Geastrum sessile (Sow.) Pouz. syn. G. fimbriatum Fr. syn. G. rufescens Pers. ex Kits Gewimperter Erdstern Géastre frangé, Sessile Earthstar. Fruit body opening to 2–3cm across, globose at first, splitting into 5–8 pointed rays, pale cream with flesh tinge. Spore sac 8–15mm across, sessile, pale cream to buff, opening by a central pore surmounting a slightly raised mouth, not delineated from the spore sac. Spores dark brown, globose, minutely warted, 2.9–3.5um in diameter. Habitat on rich humus under deciduous trees. Season autumn. Uncommon. Not edible. Found In Europe.
